Penny is co-director of Belly Dance Mirage in St. Louis and a second generation professional belly dancer. She has learned from many nationally renowned artists and has close to a decade of experience performing in restaurants, nightclubs, weddings, stage shows and private events. Penny fell in love with Middle Eastern dance when she realized it is accessible to all women and incorporated tremendous self-expression. Her classes combine breaking down the technical basics of movement with musical interpretation and improvisation. Penny holds a B.A. in Education from University of Missouri Columbia as well as a B.A. in Spanish. When she's not dancing, she works as a video producer and editor for Cor Productions in St. Louis.
Women of all shapes, sizes, abilities and ages are invited to learn the sensuous and beautiful movements of this ancient form. A dance created for women and by women, it will help build strength, flexibility and endurance, not to mention confidence. Learn belly dance basics such as body isolation, posture, combinations, expression and stage projection.
Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable - stretchy pants or sweats and a hip scarf of shawl to help articulate movement. Bare feet or flexible soled dance shoes please.
